Camels And Shifters

from Eclipse by Jason Marbach & Barbarossa

/

lyrics

Verse 1:
I took up smoking when I was sixteen
Spent paychecks on whiskey and delta queens
I've gambled with more lives than simply my own
I can't count the times I've woken up stoned
In the arms of another excuse to not be alone

Verse 2:
I play this guitar to make ends meet
I get drunk in the bar rooms and fight in the streets
I used to have nightmares from drinking all day
Now I can't drink enough to keep them away
I'm just crazy enough to be sane, that's the price that I pay

CHORUS:
Thus is the life of a modern day drifter
I'm burning up camels and grinding that shifter
Content with this vagabond life I've chosen to lead
My options are few, but they're tried and they're true
I give it just like I expect it from you
And I'll get wherever I'm going on my own two feet

Verse 3:
Each day's a story that I live to tell
Of my fall from grace straight into hell
After all these years of grinding those gears
I've learned to find strength where once there were fears
For every mile I've shed my fair share of tears

CHORUS
